Tour d’Europe driving decarbonisation with renewable fuels
The Tour d’Europe proved it: renewable fuels are a real, scalable and certified solution to decarbonise transport, already available today. Covering 18 countries and more than 80,000 kilometres, vehicles powered by renewable fuels achieved up to 87% CO₂ reductions on a well-to-wheel basis. These fuels work with existing vehicles and infrastructure, offering an immediate complement to electrification.
Yet, Europe’s current CO₂ standards for light- and heavy-duty vehicles fail to recognise their contribution, treating all combustion engines as 100% fossil at the tailpipe. This oversight risks wasting a major opportunity to accelerate emission cuts while preserving competitiveness and affordability.
The facts are clear: renewable fuels deliver results today. To learn more about the Tour d’Europe and its verified data, read the final report and discover how these fuels can help Europe meet its climate neutrality goals.
